Small-scale power plants with capacity of 127MW come on stream since late Mar.

TEHRAN – Several small-scale power plants with a total capacity of 127 megawatts (MW) have come on stream across Iran since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20), an official with the country’s Power Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company (TAVANIR) said.

“The total capacity of small-scale power plants inaugurated in the previous Iranian calendar year stood at 250 megawatts,” Zahra Esmaeilzadeh said.

According to the official, based on the country’s Seventh National Development Plan (2022-2027), every year 200 MW of small-scale power plants are going to go operational in the country.

Iranian Energy Ministry plans to increase the country’s power generation capacity by 5,333 megawatts (MW) by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (late March 2025).

According to the Iranian Energy Ministry data, 2,817 MW of the mentioned figure will be provided by gas units, 914 MW will be provided by combined cycle power plants and the rest will be generated by hydropower plants.
